Changeling Queen Encounter

By: ARTgazer12

The next day, Twilight and her friends crowded into the Library. Sparkplug, Lightning, and Oracle were inside as well. Everypony was talking at once about different things, but all based around a similar subject, Midnight. Twilight stomped her hoof into the ground to silence the crowd. However, everypony but Oracle continued to talk. Twilight tried to quiet everypony down, but her voice was silenced through all of the noise. "QUIET!" shouted Oracle. The room was now quiet and many ponies were stunned. She looked around and then paid more attention onto Twilight.

"I called you all here for the recent banishment of our friend Midnight" she said.

"I never knew you had it in you" said Sparkplug, "You always follow Celestia's orders."

"Yes, I usually do. But, Oracle showed me something that could have been the real cause of the accident yesterday." The broken band was lifted into everypony's view. Rainbow Dash and Sparkplug became nervous when they saw the band.

"Twilight, what is that rather hideous fashion accessory have to do with our friend?" asked Rarity.

"Oh! I know! I know!" squealed Pinkie Pie. She bounced to the front and grabbed the band from Twilight's magic. "I've seen this in one of my party catalogues! It's called the Magic Diffuser. When you place it on a unicorn's horn, they lose control of their magic abilities and cast random spells. They are supposed to be very fun at parties. But they are very hard to get…"

"How so?" asked Applejack.

"These pranks can only be bought by a unicorn."

At that said, Sparkplug began to slowly make his way to the door. Twilight saw this, and closed the door before Sparkplug could get out. He turned around, meeting everypony's edger eyes. "Oh…well…yeah…I bought the…"

Before he could finish, Oracle tackled Sparkplug and slammed him against one of the walls in the Library. Some books fell from their shelves but Oracle did not care. "Why did you have to do it to Midnight?!" she shouted. Sparkplug cowered from the stare that Oracle was giving him. "You could have done it on Rarity or Twilight, but you chose Midnight! And now, Midnight is banished! Why did you do it?! WHY?!?!"

Sparkplug was very scared, but something in his eyes flashed as a sense of courage. "Oracle, why are you so worried over Midnight?"

Oracle immediately stepped off of Sparkplug and backed away. Oracle began to blush while looking away. Most of the ponies awed but Sparkplug laughed. "Oracle and Midnight, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N" Sparkplug never finished his taunt because Oracle slammed her tail into him. Lightning walked up to her, "Not trying to sound inappropriate like our friend in the wall, but it was obvious from the behavior Midnight shows around you. We just never assumed you felt the same."

Oracle blushed even more and then turned away, "Midnight…he's…the only one that thought of me as a pony instead of a freak…"

"But now he's banished" said Rainbow, "Way to go Battery Pack."

"At least I'm not the one who shot the band!" he shouted back, "Nice accuracy Rainbow Crash!"

"YOU WHAT?!" shouted Oracle.

Rainbow flew higher as Oracle suddenly ran towards her. But, her flight did not stop anything. She jumped off of a shelf and tackled Rainbow to the ground. This time, the others separated them before Oracle could do anything she would regret.

---

Midnight flied away from Ponyville, from Canterlot, from everypony, from…Oracle. Never in his life did he expect this. Midnight finally found a place to be, an actual home, and he was kicked out. Why did he have to have these abilities? But that was yesterday.
Midnight was now deep within the Everfree Forest, so deep that he did not even recognize it. The trees and plant life were twisted and sinister appearing. A green and eerie fog rolled in through the rotten trees.  The ground wasn't solid, it was a swampy bog. Midnight sat in a rotten tree stump that was surrounded by filthy water. Rotten leaves and swamp gunk covered his body. Midnight did not feel it nor would he care. His body was in a slumped mess, a trail of tears leaving his eyes.

"Why…why must it be me…?" he whimpered. "My powers…my appearance…what does it mean? All I can do…all I can do is destruction. What good am I for?"

Evil laughter ran through the forest. Midnight was forced out of his sadness and it turned straight into fear. Whatever was laughing was beginning to sound like they were all around Midnight at once. Midnight curled up in the rotten stump, "Please…if you're going to kill me make it quick…"

Laughter was heard again, but this one was more defined and clear. "Now why would I harm a special pony like you?" said a voice. Midnight raised his head to see the speaker but soon regretted looking. A pony about the size of Celestia stood in front of him. But, this was no ordinary pony. For one, she had insect wings. Her legs seemed to have holes near the very bottom as well as her tail and mane. Her tail and mane were a faded shade of blue that seemed almost dead. The horn on top of her head was twisted and corrupt. She had a small pair of fangs and her eyes were a brilliant shade of green. Midnight wanted to back up, but something prevented him. "Now now…don't be scared…" she said almost soothingly. "I won't hurt you…" The strange pony hovered behind Midnight and began to stroke his back. Despite her looks, the pony was doing a good job of calming him down. His tears began to dry up, which brought a smile to both Midnight's face, but to her face as well. "Now since that is over, why not tell me what happened?"

Midnight's tears dried up completely. Something about this pony seemed…trustworthy. "Who…who are you?"

A slight chuckle escaped her lips, "Of course. I am Chrysalis, Queen of the Changelings."

"Changelings?"

"Changelings are a mistreated race. We can take the form of anypony we see, like so." A green light circled around Chrysalis and her appearance changed completely. Midnight almost believed he was looking into a mirror. The green light passed over her again, revealing her true form. "We were cast off from civilization by that accursed ruler of Equestria…Celestia…"

"My name is Midnight…and I…was banished too…"

Queen Chrysalis was shocked to hear this, or rather appeared to be. "You seem like a nice pony, why are you banished?"

Midnight sighed, "I can use spells like a unicorn. But, all of my spells seemed to be forbidden and evil. All of my spells have devastating effects; I can copy any spell and increase its power, I can reverse a spell's true intended effect, I can cancel out a spell completely…"

"You can cancel a spell?!" This sudden change in voice surprised Midnight greatly. Chrysalis was hovering in front of him with her face very close. Midnight gulped, "Y-Yeah…I can weaken spells and even make it possible that no other magic could happen."

This pony…he could be of great use to me. But he will probably be very difficult to control. It wouldn't hurt to try…

"Midnight…what would you say if I can help you?" she asked. Midnight looked at her with a slight expression of confusion. "What if I told you I can change your appearance…?" Midnight's eyes widened, causing Chrysalis to smile. "You can do that?! To me?!" he exclaimed.

"Of course I can. But, this will not come fairly easy. I will need something in return."

"Anything! Anything you want I will do!"

Chrysalis smiled evilly, "You see, I've wanted to pay Princess Celestia a visit. I would like to prove that we Changelings are not evil creatures. But sadly, the entire kingdom is blocked with a protection spell. It was casted nearly years ago, but the effects still linger. We cannot get through on our own. Help us get through the barrier, and I will change your look. Do we have a deal?"

Midnight thought over it. He always wanted to look like everypony else. Ponies would stop chasing him, threatening him, and Midnight could go back to Ponyville! With Oracle! But, there must be a reason why there was a barrier around the castle. Nevertheless, Midnight nodded and grasped Chrysalis's hoof with his claw, "I accept your offer."
The aftermath of Chapter 18, its Chapter 19.

The group finds out the real reason. Oracle nearly fight Sparkplug and Rainbow Dash. If it wasn't for the others they probably would have made a trip to the hospital.

On Midnight's side, he just made a deal with the devil. Chrysalis will never change his appearance, but Midnight does not know that. But like every evil villain, she will play Midnight like a violin, with or without her mind control magic.

The ponies should have killed Chrysalis while they had the chance.
